Fiona Smiddy, Founder of Green Outlook chats to Glandore Networks about sustainability in the home. Fiona identifies 6 areas individuals can make changes to reduce their environmental
My name’s Fiona and I’m a 31 year old Corkonian living in Kildare.
I’m a qualified chartered accountant and the face behind Green Outlook.
In 2018 the renewable energy company with whom I worked closed down and I lost my job. I took this opportunity to go travelling and visited 10 countries in 5 months.
I became increasingly aware of how our daily lifestyle choices impacted the environment and I vowed to change my ways. Since my return I’ve continuously made changes towards living more sustainably. I’ve switched up my diet, cut down on single use plastic and changed my shopping habits.
I started Green Outlook to advocate for changes towards sustainable living. Small lifestyle changes can have a positive impact towards the health of our planet and have knock on improvements in our personal lives.
When I returned to Ireland I noticed how difficult it was to find alternatives for single use and traditionally plastic packaged items. In March 2019 I set up Green Outlook to make sustainable lifestyle products as widely available as possible. Greenoutlook.ie was launched in May and the feedback to date from our customers has been fantastic!
Through Green Outlook I want to provide you with a range of products to help you lessen your environmental impact. Each product at Green Outlook has been carefully sourced to help you shop consciously. Many of the products are plastic free and all are made with natural ingredients and sustainably sourced. Even better most are sourced in Ireland reducing their carbon footprint further.
As a former employee I believe it’s vitally important companies support and promote sustainable lifestyle choices, especially in the workplace. See Corporate Services for how I can work with your business to promote sustainability.
Our young people are our future it’s vitally important we create conversations around shopping and consumerism with the planets resources in mind. If you have a group of students who are open to learning about their environmental impact and making positive choices then please contact me.
I want to inspire you to join me on this journey to living in balance with earth’s resources. I think we can all do a bit better by the planet with some help and inspiration.
