Choosing The Right Shampoo Bar For Your Hair Type

At Green Outlook there is a wide variety of shampoo bars and conditioner bars to suit all hair types and scent preferences.

The 13 shampoo bars and 4 conditioner bars are designed to specifically suit oily hair, dandruff prone hair, hair requiring growth promotion, tired hair, curly hair, or normal hair. Green Outlook stocks three popular sustainable shampoo bar brands that cater to the various needs of our customers- Three Hills Soap, Janni Bars, and Soap Out Loud.
This wide range means there is something that covers everyone! The products are all sustainably sourced, made in Ireland, are unisex. They also contain no plastic packaging, natural ingredients, are paraben free, contain no SL, and there is no stickiness or residue deposited.

The Three Hills Soap range is best suited to customers who prefer a stronger scented shampoo. The brand makes bars for all hair types that carry different scents.

For oily hair, the best shampoo bar from Tree Hill Soaps is the nettle & lavender solid shampoo bar. It is suitable for greasy hair working against dandruff with the essential oils acting as an antibacterial agent.

For an anti-dandruff bar, the rosehip & cedarwood scent is the best option. The rosehip powder helps cure dandruff and other similar scalp conditions while the added fir needle essential oil refreshes the hair and scalp.

To promote hair growth, the maca & rosemary solid shampoo bar is ideal as the product is designed especially for hair loss. The maca root is known for its regenerative benefits. It stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss by strengthening hair roots.

For all hair types, Three Hills Soap comes in two scented bars. The orange peel & ylang ylang bar has added turmeric powder which brightens up blonde hair. The orange peel powder then promotes hair shine, softness, flexibility and strengthening. The other bar in the scent amla & sweet marjoram helps cure dandruff and prevent hair loss. This is achieved with amla powder which strengthens hair follicles and gives hair a glow.

The Janni Bars range provides shampoo bars with a pleasant scent that’s not as strong as the Three Hill Soap bars. Overall, the range covers all hair types but these are our recommendations.

For normal, dry, damaged, or tired frizzy hair the freya shampoo bar suits as it contains argan oil, high levels of vitamin E and essential fatty acids. These help to create silky, soft hair that is more manageable. This bar is also made with a base of sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI) which is derived from coconuts. It has immense foaming power to preserve the colour and PH of hair.

For those with problematic scalps including dryness, itchiness, or dandruff, or those with curly hair, the apollo shampoo bar works best. The goat milk ingredient has soothing properties that prevent dryness and itchiness of the scalp while the castor oil acts as a humectant to lock in moisture. All leaving hair smooth and shiny. This bar has no scent which is ideal for those with allergies.

For dry, curly, or coarse hair the athena shampoo bar is perfect. The shea butter, pink clay and raspberry seed oil ensures a mild but effective cleansing wash, that restores hair and promotes shine. The pink grapefruit and lemon leaves hair smelling fresh.

For all hair types the dagda shampoo bar contains baobab oil which is rich in omega 3 fatty acids as well as vitamin A, D and E and seeps into the hair follicle to trigger hair growth.

Volume seekers would be best suited to the lir shampoo bar with the seaweed ingredient beings a rich source of vitamins and minerals including vitamin B12, vitamin E, amino acids and minerals, creating thicker and healthier hair.

There is also an all-round soap that acts as both a shampoo and body wash with healing properties for the skin and scalp. This honey and milk bar from Janni is perfect for anyone with eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

The Soap Out Loud range is best for those who prefer a very mild or little to no scent.

For oily hair we recommend the coconut shampoo bar as the rhassoul clay helps combat oilier hair, the tea tree soothes the scalp, while the lemon & lime oil help promote shiny hair.

Customers with dry or curly hair would be best matched with the ohbutter shampoo bar as the shea, cocoa & mango butters help condition, moisturise, and soften the hair. The white oat silk and lavender oil also soothes the scalp.

Those with normal hair will enjoy the nettle shampoo bar as the rhassoul clay helps combat oilier hair, the nettle stimulates hair growth and the juniper berry and clove bud help balance the scalp.

The shampoo bars are palm free and don’t contain harmful chemicals. They also last much longer than  regular plastic bottled shampoo and are therefore more economical and environmentally sustainable!
